Keynote 1: Digitalising TVET for Sustainable Development
About the speaker:
Since 2015 Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Georg Spöttl is Director of the Centre of Technology, Work and TVET (C-TAB) at University Bremen and Director of Steinbeis Center InnoVET. He is President of the TVET Research Community in Germany (GTW).
Until 2015 Prof. Georg Spöttl was full-time Professor at the University of Bremen, and Chairholder in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering as well as engaged at ITB as Director and Board Member.
His former positions include a full professorship at the University of Flensburg and directorship of the Department of Occupational Specialization Mechanical Technology. In 1997 Prof. Spöttl founded the institute for TVET teacher qualification called “Berufsbildungsinstitut Arbeit und Technik (biat)” at University of Flensburg.
During his professorship at University of Flensburg and at University of Bremen he assumed responsibility for Bachelor and Master Programs for Teacher Training in Mechanical Engineering and Automotive Technology, where he implemented TVET teacher training concepts and successful improvement of the Vocational Education Science Approach.
He is member of the former UNESCO working group „World Thought Leaders within the 4th International Revolution“ and Board Member of “The New York Academy of Science” for digitalization and shaping of education.
Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Georg Spöttl is and has been Scientific Director of various national, European and international research projects, partly in cooperation with globally acting research institutes.
Keynote 2: Green Jobs and Green Skills
About the speaker:
Julien Magnat has been skills and employability at ILO Regional office for Asia and Pacific since 2018. He provides Technical Assistance on skills development to Government, Employers and Workers associations from the region.
For the last 17 years, he has been working on Skills development and Decent Work in more than 20 countries for ILO in Africa, Americas, Asia and Middle-East. Including 6 LDC and Middle income countries of Asia.
For the last four years, Mr. Magnat I support Asia’s governments, employers, and workers organizations to strengthen and innovate their skills development systems.
Considering Digitalization, Decarbonization and Demography megatrends impacting the Future of Work and Covid 19 pandemic, my main areas of support relate to Digital and green transformation of TVET, skills and migration, workplace-based learning and youth employment.
Keynote 3: Adoption of TVET pedagogies for Greening and Digitalisation
About the speaker:
Dr. Margarita Pavlova (PhD Australia; PhD Russia; MEd USA; BEd Hons Russia) is the Director of the UNEVOC Centre (Hong Kong), which is a member of the global UNESCO-UNEVOC network, and an Associate Professor at the Department of International Education, the Education University of Hong Kong. Her research focus is on policy, planning and curriculum development in vocational education at both national and international levels, with a particular emphasis on education for sustainable development, green skills development and greening of the vocational education sector. Dr Pavlova’s regional research and development projects in Asia have been funded by different agencies including the Asian Development Bank, The World Bank, UNESCO and the European Training Foundation (ETF). Recently she has been a consultant for The SkillsFuture Singapore Agency on Training and Adult Education Landscape in Singapore study. Currently she is a consultant for the ETF project on Skills for Green Transition. Dr Pavlova has published widely in the fields of her expertise. She currently serves on the editorial advisory boards of two book series published by Springer: Technical and Vocational Education and Training: Issues, Concerns and Prospects, and Education in the Asia-Pacific Region: Issues, Concerns and Prospects.
